New to the forums

I want to hear what forums members that are in the know, are hearing ?
First as long time tool guy I have seen this before with both Delta and Steel city.
They get purchased by a Chinese company with production mostly in Taiwan and things go down hill from there.
Chinese owned companies don’t seem to get along with the Taiwanese factories.

I have not heard about General International being sold to anyone, but I’ve been a little out of touch lately. Is there some news to share?

The Canadian made General line has essentially been discontinued in the past few years, but I thought the General International line was still going strong. The last I knew it was a family owned business. Historically, the former General line was top notch industrial grade stuff. The General International line was more on par with other Asian imports…Jet, Grizzly, Shop Fox, some modern Delta and PM, etc.

The majority of the serious woodworking equipment in our millwork shop is General, some dating back years ago and are as tough as tough can get. We had to order a part for our 24 inch planer recently and they made no mention of making any serious changes in the company. I don’t remember when we’ve not done business with General, that’s how long we’ve used their big woodworking tools.

Usually when you guy General you’ve bought for a lifetime unless you abuse it, sell it or trade it off.
