For anyone interested, I just wrote a Ruby script to combine two of my most frequently used scripts into one. The new script includes a little more functionality plus I added tool icons and a toolbar. The new script combines addhiddenlayer.rb coded by Jim Foltz and layersshowhide_all.rb coded by Madcello. You can download the layers.zip file and extract it to the SketchUp plugins folder. If you use either of the previous scripts remove them form the plugins folder. The new commands show up under the View menu and the Layer Tools toolbar is accessible through View/Toolbars. The layer.rb file includes a description of the tools.

THanks! I am going through your tutorial on drawing the bedside table and was getting annoyed by having to click all these little checks all the time! It couldn’t have been better timing.

Thanks too, for publishing that tutorial. I had been fooling around with sketchup before but found it frustrating. It helps to go through it step by step with something to hold on to, and I learned a couple of valuable tricks.

Thanks fiddlebanshee for the feedback. I am glad it helped. There are a lot of other Ruby scripts I use to make life a little easier. I have them listed (though the list needs updating) on My Favorite Ruby Scripts page. You might want to check there.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the catch. I am looking at it now. Seems to be a function of how you arrange the icon. I’ll get back to you when I find the problem.

Hi Dave,

Yup, I see it. Thanks Dave for the catch and the debug. I’ll get the edited one out in a few minutes.
