Cutting short laths on a small table saw is achieved simply and with no problems. Of course the miter fence is used for that purposes. But what about crosscutting long board, or heavy board? In that case the tiny factory made miter fence is not appropriate. What is even worse is you risk the strong kickback of fast rotating saw blade.
Some people assume and even use a sled as the solution for crosscutting long lumber. Not a safe solution!
I made a modified miter fence of wood and steel that will serve the crosscutting much safer, more compact and more comfortable then any sled or factory miter fence, at least when small amateur table saws are to be used.
