So I made walnut magnetic bottle cap catchers for the groomsmens gifts and I am havin a problem with the finish. I used a light coat of Danish oil then painted each groomsmens initial with acrylic paint, followed by a few coats of aerosol poly. When I tested out the first one, it dinged and chipped where the cap was pulled to the wood by the magnet. It’s either an indentation or a white chip. Is there some other way to finish this project so that won’t happen? Should I strip everything off, skip the initial and just do some other finish? Any help would be greatly

I attached an image of the chipping. It’s in the middle of the F towards the bottom. You can see the white marks

Apply the paint first, the oil in the danish oil is preventing the paint from adhering to the wood and furthermore danish oil is slow to cure.
