I first noticed this last week. I don’t know what changed on my end. I can view project pics fine (thank goodness!) but when there are pics in blogs and forum posts I see nothing. Not an icon or anything.

for example this thread.

I see nothing there.

Pictures in the first post of that thread are showing fine. Those pictures are hosted and embedded from – maybe your browser is blocking this address?

I can see them fine. Are you on a PC or Mac? I am on my Mac now and everything looks fine. Your anti virus or firewall may be blocking the pictures. Check your settings you may have a block up for RU.

I’m on a pc. I have not control of the firewall at my current location. (read between the lines) The site shows up as blocked due to inappropriate content. I’ve had some issues with other blogs as well.

So… in each case we think its my firewall then?

That’s very likely. All but the most obscure picture hosting sites are blocked for me (same situation), so I see almost nothing in the blogs, but the project pictures are fine.

Its your firewall, if I use and office machine and google something and say the word sex comes up in the content it is blocked. If I go to the local newspaper site and a band word is in a article or section the site won’t come up.

Works fine for me.

On Occassion, in Projects, only a single picture out of threee or four will Zoom up for me or they don’t zoom at all and come up as a new page on their own. I just naturally assume it’s My Computer. I have a PC with VISTA …..SCREAM!!!! Sometimes (not on LJ) I’ll get that empty Block with a little Block in the corner with a Red X that your suppose to be able to click on to get the Picture. Not!

mrg: Does that happen even if you click on “Settings” in Google before you search, then click on “Do Not Filter My Results”? My Firewall doesn’t filter Words, just Possibble or Malicious Sites.

Then we have that (^%^& Hundred or so check boxes when you click on “Tools” in the Menu Bar, then to “Internet Options”, then “Advanced” for all the neat little Check or Uncheck boxes. SOME of them are Important to showing pictures and Dozens of other functions. Problem is (I’m a Total Idiot on Computers) I don’t understand what a lot of them mean!!

Sometimes what’s a Problem today, ceases to be a Problem tommorrow because I’ve shut it down overnight and when it’s turned on next day…...Problem gone. I also have four FREE Clean Up tools that clean useless and HIDDEN stuff off here, that Windows won’t even come close to finding, never mind getting rid of it. Along with a Registry Cleaner and Defragger.

Then we have the “ReCycle Bin”!! Think all your “Deletes” actually get Deleted? NOPE! Windows just HIDES them somewhere else. I Blew away more than half my Files thanks to a Windows “Critical Download”, “Restore Points” wouldn’t work either (FOUR HOURS WORK!). Found a NEAT Program from the UK “Recuva”. It found and returned about 80% of what got blown away and a TON of Previously “Deleted” stuff. I run it now and then just to see if it needs updating ALL “Deleted” items are back on the screen.

What would we do without Computers??? OH! FISHING sounds good to me!!! ...LOL…
