I need a hand held power planer. Which one do you guys have? What do you like dislike about it? What about the festool? One of them can double as a bench top jointer, handy for cabinet face frames right?

Thanks, Chris

Chris, years ago I bought a Makita and thought it was going to be the, be all end all. Yeah not so much. It’s more of a rough carpentry tool for making something fit and let’s get this job done sort of thingy. If your wanting one for finish work, IMHO ain’t gonna happen. It’s great for fitting doors and windows, or getting a board to just fit in that tight space and then sink a 6 penny nail in it. I doubt many could get any kind of consistency on a piece of any length or width.

Have your say...
