Topic tags/keywords: pantry magnet rare earth solution cabinet door obstruction removable filler filler

I added a little pantry to the many projects tied to a kitchen remodel. However, because my house has low ceilings and a curtain rod for door curtains interfered with a full upper door, I had to either install a permanent filler pieces or leave the area above the door open, which would have looked bad.

Putting a filler piece in made accessing and using the upper shelf difficult, at best. The problem was solved when my wife suggested I play with an idea using some of my rare earth magnets. Using them, we merely reach up and pull the filler piece off to access the area.

The frame work adds to the appearance, and acts as a stop, which keeps the filler from going in too far.
