Would love to come but for the distance and the no-alcohol, friend. My Jack Daniel’s Pecan Pie I think is about 40proof. I’ll just have to eat it myself here in Oklahoma. Hope it’s fin.

well this is intresting..ive had several comments of not wanting to come just because there is no booze…..i guess i was wrong in that folks would get together for the fun of wood working and meeting…maybe this wasnt a good idea…im going to give this one week..if folks dont want to come because of the booze factor, then it will just be canceled , im really disappointed by this…...maybe it wont be so.

Griz, your party will be a lot of fun for all! Just go for it!!! I’m here in the great northwest & If I could make a trip like that I would ride my motorcycle. But that would be a 3 month discover America adventure. Booze isn’t a problem, it’s the distance for me. I can’t have parties so much any more after all the loud guitars last time! Grizz c’mon take a chill pill, I was funnin. You can have any kinda party ya want, duh.

Here’s that recipe, and for the cooking ignorant the alcohol burns off during the cook leaving the flavors only.

3 large eggs, beaten
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 cup dark corn syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup Jack Daniels Whiskey
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup pecan halves
1 unbaked 10-inch pie shell
Directions
1In a medium sized bowl combine the eggs, sugar, butter, syrup, vanilla, and Jack Daniel’s whiskey. Mix well. Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the bottom of the unbaked pie shell. Cover the chips with pecan halves starting around the outside edge and working your way in towards the center, with the pecans. Pour the filling over the chips and pecans. Pecans will rise to the top during baking. If they flip over after pouring in the filling, turn them so they are turned the same way and will “look pretty.” (as my ggmother used to say) Bake at 375 degrees for 35-40 minutes, or until a knife inserted about halfway from the center to the edge comes out clean. You may want to cover the pie crust edge with aluminum foil or a ring to keep from browning too much.

Wish I could attend. Stick with the no alcohol rule this is meant to be a woodworking activity with food. It falls in the line of safety in the shop and on the road. Would hate to hear someone might be to impaired and hurt themselves at your event, or to drive and hurt someone or themselves. Not opposed to a drink or 2 in the shop after the work is done. Hope this works out, would love to see more of this type of activity for fellow woodworkers to get together to meet each other. Offering your home and shop for this event is very generous of you, and deserves the respect due to your generosity to host an unsponsored event. I do hope that you get enough people to attend would love to hear and see pics of how things went.

Consideration—in not posting these things, using profanity, taking the Lord’s name in vain, or … whatever—isn’t anything more than Kindergarten etiquette, and—IMHO—has ZERO downside.

Makita tools are some of the best tools going in my opinion, I own several of them and the photo of Lisa and Elizabeth is on the wall in my shop.
