Topic tags/keywords: locust sawmill figure

Here’s an interesting board I picked up from the local sawmill yesterday ( www.tcwoods.com ). The employee there told me it was locust (he didn’t specify if it was golden/honey or black). It had some amazing figure, so I picked it up despite the large split through the middle. There is a yellow tint to the sapwood, though I doubt this will stay yellow after finishing. Maybe I can use it as a medallion for an Andy-style box.

When I see a particularly interesting piece of wood like this, I usually buy it despite the fact that I have no idea what I will do with it. Sometimes these pieces set on the shelf for a pretty long time until the right project comes along.
