When I read about so many project pictures disappearing . I subjected looking at woodworking web.com. I don't think the powers that be liked that because my remarks were deleted. This sight has really taken a turn and not for the better. This used to be the best woodworking site I fear those days are over.
No it took a turn for the better. Martin allowed the site to be overrun by trolls and spammers and he will eventually do the same to the other one when he gets bored with it.
Something else happened. Cricket would not have deleted a statement about another site. Perhaps what you thought you posted somehow didn't get posted. I've often had that happen.
It got posted I recall it. Honestly wouldn't be too worried about it as well it is only a website, life goes on.
Trolls still exist they always do on sites. I like this site better simply because of the layout much more active, and find some interesting posts and builds. The site you mention drives me nuts with the layout (huge font, generous spacing between topic posts, etc..) and seams to be very slow moving. I didn't see anyway to change it when I joined there some time ago.

Mine too.
I'm a member of a few woodworking sites, two in particular stand out by far,CWW and this one( LJ) ,the reason for my liking both sites is their friendly , down to earth members, both are businesses, neither site is perfect but who's looking for perfection here,if there's a problem with LJ, let's bring it up .

I just said what I said to see if you would delete my statement as others have said you would. The conversation was about pictures missing and project pictures not opening. One of the people stated when they complained they got their messages deleted. So I thought I would put it to the test. Sure enough you deleted my comments. I've been on this web sight long before there was a cricket on this sight. This is not the friendly sight it use to be.
I am sorry some are so upset….I happen to really like LJ and the way it is run.
Cricket does a great job trying to balance letting people have their say and moderating when needed. She is honest and open about most things and tries to provide explanations.

When I first joined LJ it was like no one moderated it and people could do whatever they wanted without following the rules. If thats the friendly site you are referring to then I don't want it back. The only negative thing I see here are some of the negative people. I try to ignore them and only interact with the good ones.

If I automatically remove complaints, then this one would have been removed as well, correct? (smiles)
Yes, I do occasional remove a comment if it is in complete violation of our community rules and/or I receive an excessive number of complaints or flags about a post.
Yeah, I remember the "good ole days" as being downright sh*tty. The amount of garbage thrown on this site about four years ago was stunning. Fortunately those days are gone, hopefully for good, and moderators didn't have to actually limit topics in a heavy-handed way.
I like the site for what it is, and don't mourn for what it ain't. The contributors are talented and diverse, the screens are incredibly readable, and Cricket does what needs to be done to keep it all moving. If folks want to cry, so be it, but no sympathy here.
Sounds to me that Cricket was NOT being mean or critical, but that she had gotten multiple complaints from OTHER PEOPLE who didn't like it. Seems she was doing what her "job" calls for.
