AutoCAD is the standard, but it is expensive and a steep learning curve.

DraftSight is a free version of AutoCAD, with the same steep learning curve, but it’s very powerful.

There is a program on the internet called Home Plan Pro which can be download for free for 30 days as a trial period. I have used it for several years and draw prints for our County Building Dept. to get permits issued. I also have a second version on my home computer and use it fro drawing project design for my wood working projects. It is a CAD type program but is fairly easy to use. It does have some minor drawbacks but I use this daily at work.
