Just placed an order for a 3HP 36" fence Sawstop on Amazon for 2.5 grand. That is about $700 price drop. I wander if the recent Sawstop rebates and this price drop is an indication of a new model coming out.

I nearly grabbed that saw this morning. Didn't recognize the vendor, so I decided not too. The saw is still $3100 shipped from the other sellers. If you do end up getting the right model and its new…you got a fantastic deal.

I paid $2899 for the 3hp 36" T glide fence saw on May 1st from Woodcraft. Got the over arm dust collection attachment as a limited time incentive, I believe a $250 value (could be wrong, going from memory). I was told that's as low as they go and that the dust collector or mechanical base incentive only happens once a year. If you got that saw for $2500 then kudos to you, that's a great price.

The SawStop PCS 3HP ships from and sold by Amazon for $2,688.53 right now. I m sure you can get an authorized vendor to match that price to save on tax.

Amazon.com is an authorized vendor.
You can save on tax but would have to pay $250 for shipping. And technically if you did not pay tax on an online purchase you have to report it with your income taxes at the end of the year and still pay it, otherwise it is a tax fraud.

I did not buy it from that seller. Too risky. There was a bit more expensive, $2600+ from Amazon itself with prime shipping. I see it is gone now though.
Now I do need to find a way to cramp a 220V breker into a remaining single free slot in the breaker panel. Might require a subpanel.

I bought from the risky seller :)

You will need two adjacent slots in your breaker box to get 220v. The easiest way is to buy a single slot tandem breaker and consolidate two others to get the extra slot.

I think I know what happened. Some unauthorized dude had a Sawstop to sell so he listed it on amazon ( much like ebay) for $2500. Amazon's robot saw the price drop and automatically lowered it for their merchandise to stay competitive. Once the $2500 single item sold the robot does not see the competitor and raises the price back to $3120 !

So you own me a beer ;-)
Thanks for the advise but someone before me already used that approach and doubled every slot in the panel. One of those someone was the solar company.

I will probably have to add a subpanel and relocate of the circuits from the main to the subpanel

That's what I'm thinking too. The Amazon bot lowered the price to compete with the $2500 one.

There's scammers listing used SS for $500 all the time.

I read the reviews for the seller and one reviewer did mention that their parcel weighed over 300# and was delivered by freight truck. we shall see….

Hopefully everything works out for you, especially since that price drop is Amazon's Oops.
If that was a SS price drop, it would be deflected at every SS dealer across the US.
You will love the saw, I have a 3hp PCS and it is always a pleasure to use every time I turn it on.
Absolutely, NO regrets on my purchase.

Sure you are. Hahaha. JK. That looks like one crazy saw!!!

Chuck, you found me! Lol.

Still debating on my saw choice! The boss has mandated that I finish the current project and resituate my shop on the other side of the garage prior to any purchase. Unless a sale comes along….....

This makes the most sense. Don't know if anyone uses this website, but it tracks amazon's price changes. I think this was the saw the OP posted:

It looks like it was a 1 day sale!

I would not worry much about the seller being dishonest. If he is I am sure amazon will take care of it. My concern was that buying not from authorized dealer you might run into difficulties getting warranty service as Sawstop specifically states the warranty is only valid when buying from an authorized distributor.
