My obsession with old tools has been put on the back burner for the last 9 months or so because my wife and I accidentally had twins and they have taken up more time than I could have ever imagined. I hit up an antique auction this weekend and picked up a couple planes and a saw. All in all it was a good day.

The first plane I got was one I’ve been wanting for a while- a Stanley 4 1/2. It is a type 11. It had a couple of dings but it will restore well and the tote was fully in tact. I got it for $15.

The other plane is a no. 7 type 17. It has the rubber on the depth adjustment knob and is pretty heavy compared to my other no 7. This is the first WWII plane that I’ve got my hands on. It is pretty coool but I will probably sell it because I already have a no 7 and never use it. I prefer my 608 and my KK8 to the no 7 size. I got it for $15 as well.

The last is this Diston back saw. It is pretty badly rusted but I am going to try to bring it back. It was $5.

I have already got the rust of the 4 1/2 and the saw. It feels good to get back in the game! I am addicted all over again.

That’s one of those accidents that will keep you away at night. Congratulations!!

But glad to see you’re back in the game!
