Topic tags/keywords: question

I’m trying to recreate a wedding invitation, but out of wood. I’d wanted to use some water based dyes because I really don’t want to muck up the grain. But, its white and I can’t find a dye that would make the color I’m looking for. Any suggestions? Thanks

Why not buy some high quality white holly and do it in natural wood? You can edge glue the holly to make the size you need. Put crystal clear finish on it and your done.

I thought about that. I have a tiny piece of holly, but not enough. A quick search of ebay didn’t show me that much of a selection. Does Holly “yellow” with age? Do you know of a good website to buy holly? Thanks

Try Oxalic Acid AKA (wood bleach) check your local pharmacy for it. Use rubber or nitrile gloves also.

I’ve had good luck making a white wash with 1 part white paint and 5 parts water. Wood bleach kind of scares me, tbh.
