Topic tags/keywords: question spray gun

Hi,
I’m just starting to get into spray finishing and I picked up the Earlex HV5500 spray station. I’ll be spraying shellac and probably lacquer along with other finishes in my garage so I am looking into building or getting a knockdown spray booth. Recently I found a Grizzly G0532 Dry Spray booth listed on craigslist, and after talking with the owner the unit has never been unpacked from the crate and is brand new. He’s asking $900.

The Grizzly product is discontinued and I can’t find any reviews on the item other than someone complaining about Grizzly’s customer service (I read that a lot). Generally I stay away from Grizzly products but given the good price I am considering getting this tool.

Does anyone have any experience with this unit? The motor is a baldor 2HP drawing 1250 cfm, which seems like that would be enough for a HVLP spraying system. I’m attaching a link to the Grizzly product, if anyone can weigh in I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

I’d jump for something like that. Beats a box fan and an open window any day.

Thanks pinto, I’m thinking the same thing.

No one has experience with these units? I’d love to hear just one person with experience before I pull the trigger, but it seems like I’m going to take the plunge somewhat blindly.

I’ll post a review once I get it, if it’s still there Monday it will be mine.

Can’t beat that price for a unit like that if you have the space. If there is a flaw in design or components, you can modify it yourself and still be far ahead of any other product or DIY unit IMO.

Pulled the trigger, paid the asking price of $900. This thing is huge! Says 354 lbs on the data tag. Got a guy with a forklift to load it up on the truck tomorrow, hopefully my brother in laws will help me unload it at at the house.

Once I get this set up and start using it I will post a review. Thanks again for the opinions and feedback.
