I’ve never moved a floor drill press before and thought I would ask here for some advice. This guy wants to sell me his JET JDP-17MF 16 1/2” DP but I have to move it from his place to mine. I’m not sure how to do that. Is this something I can move in my pickup or is it better to somehow load it upright in U-haul or something. What would be the best way to transport this drill press? The manual says it’s 189 lbs. I wonder how much just the head of it weighs. It’s in great shape and I don’t want to damage it.

Thanks all,

JQ

I have a delta floor drill press and the last time I moved it, I just took it apart and put it in the back of the truck, If you break it down to the head, base, and support tube it should be manageable, otherwise grab a couple of friends and lay it down in the back of the truck.
