I do remodeling by day and woodworking as a hobby. We started a basement remodel this morning. I had a good feeling when I bid the job as there was a built in wall unit that I thought had the face frame and lower doors where solid cherry. Come to find out, all the woodwork is cherry. The entire built in is cherry. When all is said and done, I bet theres about 300BF. Should yield about 200+.

Yeee Haa!

Good score.

That is one of the things I miss about being a handyman (retired) with a full on wood shop – really great deals. I’ve been given nice wood, really great tasting high end wine (I don’t like wine, but this was good), pillars, wood burning stoves nice enough I traded one out for a 4×4 and so on.

I still do a little here and there when I want to. I built some monster store cabinets this month and have enough laminate left over to insure every cart in my shop has a laminate top. The other day, a couple told me I could have the twenty foot, retracting awning, if I just removed it and patched the spots it was bolted in (they now have an actual roof, to replace it.

Again, that was a really nice score.

Have your say...
