Test drive it first. Put it on the high speed and let it run see if it rattles and if the bearing sound good. Looks like that is about 1/2 the price of a new one of that model. If it is in good shape and every thing works, not a bad buy. This is just my opinion, I am not a tool expert. I do have a 17” Jet drill press, it has some problems that I haven’t bothered to correct. Someday I will have to. Mine is a “Woodworker” model, and I thought the only difference was the size of the table. Now I suspect the woodworker model does not have a good of bearing as the metal model. I could be wrong. I think the one you are looking at is their metal drilling model.

I have the JDP-17M.

Price is not too bad. I believe the “M” in the part number means “metal”, not sure of any differences in the head compared to a “wood” model, I know the table is different.

One thing I’m not happy with on this DP is the depth stop. I modified mine to fix the issue.
