I found a person selling Claro Walnut (SF Bay Area) for under $8 a bf for 4/4 and 6/4 boards. I hadn’t heard of this until now and from the pictures it looks nice. Has anyone used it for projects? Eastern Walnut around here goes for $10+ per bf and the quality can be poor at times for the price.

Claro Black Walnut can be some very pretty stuff. I’ve only used it for small turning stuff but hope to for some larger project work this next winter.

There’s a guy just south of Sacramento if you don’t like your local guys stuff who has a fairly large stock of various local species and has some Claro Black Walnut as well.
