Greetings grizz:........ Well…. I don’t know for sure, but it kinda looks like purpleheart….can’t tell. Did you put some kind of stain on it? Could possibly be bloodwood, but again I can’t be sure. But then it looks too red for purpleheart…. just not sure….

i just put paint thinner on it to bring out the color…its not purple heart…and i dont think its mahogany…keep guessing…lol

There is African mahogany that is a little darker than the Central American and South America Mahogany. They are quite a bit yellower or oranger.

I’ll try and post a picture of some samples of the two species that I have. There is also Sapele from Africia that is also though of as Mahogany like. I’ll try and post all three species.

could it be blood wood karson..the grain is pretty straight..and its awfully red…but i will see what you post…you feeling ok now…i tried to call ya twice…hope your doing ok…thanks for any help…grizz

well this i know…its darn pretty…and ive got 2 pieces that are 1 1/2 by 3 by 5and a half feet long…....and one of the boards says Malaysia on it….maybe i need to look to see what comes out of there…but anyone else , lets keep trying…thanks

i think jim helped me find it…it looks just like benge…i looked at the hobbit house…and its a dead ringer if you aske me….look at it karson and see what you think…thanks jim…you saved the day…i was going to make a cutting board from it…when i thought it was mahogany …i think ill hold off and use this for better purpose…thanks folks…

well im not sure now..i thought it was benge..but its also called shedua and when i look at it..its not what ive got…ahhhhhhhhhh..jim help me out here…what do you think…

i dont know autumn..its grain is pretty straight…and the end looks diffrent then the jotoba…im to tired to keep looking tonight…im getting bug eyed looking at this wood anymore tonight…if we dont solve it..im just going to treat it like a rare wood…cus it is to me…so im going to use it for inlays and the likes…

Hmm, my first thought was that it looked a lot like some sipo I have, but maybe not so much. I’d say you have the right idea, though: when in doubt, treat it like gold. :)
