I’ve had a number of dogs over the years, none of which were closer to me than this guy. I’m finally able to write about him after a month has passed since putting him down. Great with kids and will really miss his company when grouse hunting this coming fall. He was hell to fish with as he would jump out of the canoe in an attempt to retrieve my lure.

I am grateful he was in my life for twelve years and the last four of which he was my full time shop companion, greeting all who entered and even toward the end started to get along with the mail carrier. Finn always found the largest pile of saw dust to lay in and was forever bringing me pieces of scrap he would find laying around.

For all of you who are privileged with a great companion, love-em while you can. Hopefully I haven’t seen the last of him and am happy I was able to give him a good life.

Fred

Sorry for you loss and he looks like a special one. I have a dog now that is getting up there and loves to come lay in the shop and I would take a million for her. They give so much unconditional love and ask only the same in return

It’s going to kill me when that time comes at my shop. Sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss. Finn looks like he was a sweet one. We had to put down one of my pups last month and I miss her so. Very hard as both dogs were with me whenever I went to the shop to work. As you noted…favorite napping spots were wherever there was a good amount of dust and chips. I see many dogs within LJ posts – they are great woodworking companions.

That’s a really good looking friend. I know what you mean about losing a friend like that. I had a yellow lab, Maggie. She got cancer and I also had to put her down. I miss that dog a lot. She was the best, at everything.

Condolences…..losing a dog is difficult….they can become very close

I lost my 17 year old dachshund a couple of months ago….I still look for her.

Sorry to hear about Finn. It’s a big loss. My Rocket was the same, always getting me in trouble when entering the house with sawdust on him.

Thanks folks. Appreciate your kindness. Like a buddy told me there is another dog out there to love, so maybe in the near future.

I know this is a late response, but I am sorry for your loss. Losing your companion is something you cannot get over. Ever.
