My paper today had a Lowe’s ad for a PC 18-volt combo set that includes drill/dirver, circular saw, recip saw, light and 2 batteries, all for $129. I assume this is a national ad campaign. I don’t need ‘em, but sounds like it might be a nice opportunity for someone just getting into woodworking.

I just checked the our local (Fort Worth, TX) ad—same price here.
Does sound like a good deal—and I have a birthday coming up.
I already have corded versions of all those items—- but have seen many times cordless would have been handy.

I noticed the batteries are NiCad —
With the superiority and growing popularity of Lithium Ion tech.
I suspect this accounts somewhat for the good price.
I noticed on their website
similar combos Lithium based from Skil and Hitachi are going for$229 and $449 respectively.
To save $100 – $300 (particularly with PC quality) I can put up with recharging more often.

That is an incredibly low price. I’m sure I paid more than $129 for each one of those items.

I have the PC cordless set, and it is great. And for those of you who like to have lithium batteries, the NiCad set for 129 can use lithium batteries also. The NiCad batteries charge in less then an hour, and the set comes with two batteries.
