It looks like I have scraped together the $500 I need to get a new jointer and I am between these two. Any suggestions?
Thanks all.

I have the Ridgid and have no complaints. I have had it for a year now with no issues. My Home Depot currently has it on clearance for $299, whereas the Grizzly, with shipping is $499. I’m sure the Grizzly is a fine machine, as it seems to have good reviews by others on this site.

I’m very happy with my Grizzly 604. However, it is more than the $500 you noted. Grizzly also makes 2 cheaper models, the 654 ($375 + $69 shipping) and the 452 ($425 + $69 shipping). The main difference between mine and these 2 cheaper models in the 1.5 hp vs 1 hp. I think the main difference between the 654 and the 425 is the location of the switch.

I don’t know anything about Ridgid, but I have been very happy with every grizzly I have had.

+1 for the Ridgid at HD. Mine works great and got it on clearance.

Good Luck!

Ardbeg, I am also in Cleveland. The Home Depot at Steelyard Commons in Cleveland had one jointer on the shelf with clearance price of $299 late last week. I would snatch it up quickly if I were you.

I have that Grizzly model and it’s been great. I’ve only been using it for a couple of months, and I’ve never had anything else. But I have nothing bad to say about it. Nor about any of my Grizzly machines.

Thanks to FatScratch and HD I am now the proud owner of a ridgid jointer @ the bargain price of $299! Can’t wait to get it put together.

You made a very good decision and will be very happy with the Ridgid jointer not to mention getting it for clearance pricing.

Good Luck!

Got this put together and up and running last night. Everything was well aligned out of the box. The only thing that needed just the tiniest bit of tweeking was the fence alignment. It now joints beautifully and mills perfect 90’s with almost no effort. In my rush to get it going I didn’t run the DC to it and it does fill up with chips in a matter of minutes.

Anyway, a great buy. I would have been happy with it at $429 and would recommend it to anyone looking at a 6”. On sale for $50 more than Delta’s tabletop, you jut can’t go wrong.
