I was once again looking at the array of tools that i have acquired from my late grandather and for one reason or another i picked up an old drawknife and took a closer look. To my surprise there was a marking on the old knife that i just couldn’t make out. So i hit it with a little WD and some 320 grit sandpaper and out pops the markings “TH WITHERBY WARRANTED”. Ok so upstairs i go to the computer to do a little search, i had no idea that this was such a valuable antique. Just want to share my good fortune with everyone. If anyone happens to have any info on Witherby tools id love to check it out. Knife measure 20” from outside handle to outside handle and the blade is 12”.

Thanks for lookin!

Witherby used excellent steel. I have several socket chisels of theirs and they are my favorites. It’s hard to find old chisels in decent shape. Looks like you have a nice tool there.

Great tool you have. I have an old draw knife I found somewhere. I love using it. It cuts better than the two new ones I have. I don’t have a clue what brand it is. It’s always sweeter when the tool was passed down to you. Congratulations.

I have several Witherby chisels all found in flea markets. I keep an eye out for them and Swan. Two of my favorites. Just found a 3/8” Witherby last week at the local flea for $5. Had to run back to the car to raid the change drawer for the money. LOL Wasn’t planning on buying anything.
