Topic tags/keywords: question tip

Hi I’m new to the site and just had a large silver maple cut down on the property and would love to keep some of the wood for carving/woodworking. Problem is I’ve only worked with cured wood and dont know anything about curing the wood and keeping the slabs i’ve cut from the trunk from checking. Any help in this would be greatly appeciated. Thank you.

I would use Anchorseal on the ends of the slabs. Also you will need to put strips between the layers so that the air can get around the wood. Look at this blog to see how I stack lumber to dry
