Topic tags/keywords: humor question resource researching price checking details

my 1st issue is when people post projects and put 1 pic up showing as much as possible, making the actual project smaller within the pic and showing even less detail
maybe its just me but i obviously like to see the entire project however i think the details are as if not more important then the whole in many cases…maybe im just a weirdo, who knows…

2nd issue i watch a ton of the reviews and the 1 thing that it seems that is left out 95% of the time is the price, which is, for most of us 95% of what can swing us ftom 1 product to the next best
im not saying u need to show the check stub but a round number would be nice just for a basic idea especially with newer products and as many of you im sure have found, alot of dites dont actually give a price, they send you to a dealer site for that, which is 1 of my paeves with them sites to begin with but it somehow still happens even in this day and age….

is it only me that this stuff bugs, or are there others out there getting the same feelings?

I agree and also it would be a good idea to post a link to where the item was purchased so if someone down the line wants to check the current price they can.

Yeah I like to see how it was done, more than anything.

It could be better but with so many members, all with various communication skills, it become what it is. Bad photos , never taken with the review in mind and spliced together with hastily contrived comments.

After all it’s an amateur forum and expecting anything more is pure folly.

Even the well built reviews here are lucky if they are not swept to the bottom of the pile in less than a day- hence those posters soon stop. (too much effort for too little reward)

Just and observation- not a complaint.

just remember the words

“ripped off”

you never hear those words here, always a more kinder, gentler approach like “3” out of “5”, slightly dissastisfied ?............and the manual gets recycled with the card board box?.....and three hours later we get a “review”..............

The only review I generally trust is my own and I live with the consequences et’ known…..................I do love reading the reviews but remain my own judge and jury

there are so many variants relating to your rants.

1. photos – some members are more tech savvy than others, some have difficulties posting at all, other’s don’t really know their way around pictures, some only like 1 picture of all those they took of a certain project, and some don’t think their projects are good enough to post, and find a very specific angle that will be acceptable… and others… well ,the list never ends.

just take what you can from a post, if you like it – good, if you want to see more – by all means, post a comment asking to see ‘details A’ and ‘detail B’ – if they can- I’m sure most people would be happy to see interest in their posts and add more info as it goes. if you don’t like a certain project, and can’t get what you want out of it – move on to the next one. at least people are posting

2. as for prices – some people get stuff used/craigslist/ebay/on sale/else – in which case price is not applicable. the review here is more for performance, kinks, and stuff like that. if you are doing research for your next purchase and already researching a certain tool – you can check for pricing on several online suppliers, not only will this give you an option to find the best price, this will also show you the price TODAY, as opposed to what the price was when Joe-lumberjock did his review – 3 years ago.

however – I would like to see people post reviews several months AFTER they have purchased the item and actually used it, and not while they are still unpacking it… lol

Peace :)
