Topic tags/keywords: dust dust collection duct

I recently bought a used 1hp dust collector and went to the local Lowe’s looking for something to use as flexible ductwork. The only options I could see were 4” flex dryer duct and the 4” black “flex” line used for underground water drainage. I don’t the the dryer duct would hold up to being pulled around the shop if it could even handle the suction. The black pipe seems too rigid. If I ever move to a larger dust collector or have the need to leave the collector attached to multiple tools at the same time I will plumb PVC lines as much as possible.

For the LJ’s using portable dust collectors, what’s connecting your tool to the dust collector?

I don’t think you will find suitable hoses at any of the Borg stores, if you have a Woodcraft or Rockler store nearby that’s the place to go, or do as I did, shop online, the best deal I found was believe it or not at Amazon.

The hoses you will find at the stores are tipically 10’ in lenght, the hose I found at Amazon was 50’ in lenght.
Also if you are member of Amazon Prime some of them will ship for free.

Shop around and compare prices and then take the punge.

Have fun….

WoodCraft or Rockler or any of the other hundreds of woodworking supply stores. You need dust collector hose because nothing else is as flexible or even has the same 4” dimension.

From my tools to my 6” PVC I use the Woodcraft 4” flexible hose.
