Hey All, I was just at Home Depot (Washington, PA) today and I saw the Ridgid Granite Top Table Saw on sale for 399. I also saw the jointer for 299. Are they discontinuing these or is this just a sale? I’ve heard back and forth on the table saw, but I was wondering about the jointer.

i have heard they stopped making the table saw because of not having the riving knife, which i think now is required on all table saws, and for good reason. THanks for the info on the jointer! I have been waiting for this day!!!

I was just in HD. I didn’t see that TS. Each store might have different things.

As it happens I am looking for a new table saw and stopped in the HD near work to look at what they have. They had only contractors saws. The clerk there told me they quit carrying the granite top saw because of poor sales and they they now only carry the contractors saws.

I was pretty disappointed and am now looking elsewhere for a saw.

I don’t know about how good they are but in my working days I built a lot of high precision instruments with garnet bases and it’s a very stable material. The problem with garnet is when it gets cold it stays cold for a long time and is very unconformable working on. When I bought my Jet band saw I was given a choice of ordering the Jet and having to wait 6 weeks for it or buying a Steel City saw with a garnet base that was in stock and taken it home me and for the reason I gave above I waited the 6 weeks for the Jet. From my passed experiences with garnet I would recommend that if you don’t have heated shop I would stay away from garnet.

HD just brought the saw back to resell in the stores. Kind of strange beings they just “closed out” of them a month or so ago. Got mine for $276 OTD. It’s a great saw. Just added a TS LS fence system and a outfeed table in the past month.
