Topic tags/keywords: desk design

Hello friends,

I hope you are doing well.

I am looking for suggestions for the design of a desk to be used in my study at home.

I will place my laptop on it, and also use it for reading, and paper work, e.g writing notes, etc. I would like a couple of drawers to put some items, e.g. pens, but it is not necessary.

I am estimating the size of the table top will be about 6ft by 4ft.

Does anyone have any design ideas they can share please?

Any suggestions please?

Thank you so much!

4 feet seems pretty deep, unless you have long arms. Sitting at mine, which is 30” deep, I can reach comfortably about 24” and reach the back by stretching slightly.

There are hundreds of laptop computer desk for sale on the internet. I’d do a search for “laptop computer desk” and look at all the picture to get an idea of what would fit your needs.

I had a store bought one when I had my business, think about a smaller desk with a side return desk, 90, front desk computer, keyboard, side return at 90 for wright on, supported by a small 3 drawer file type cabinet.

If you’re going to use the desk with a laptop and just do paper work on it anywhere from about 26 to 30 inches wide is plenty enough. 4 feet is a huge top.

We use reproduction farm tables with one center drawer in our office for desk. Each desk is 72 inches long, 30 inches wide, has three 27 inch monitors and three pc’s on them. Still have plenty of work space for keyboards, mouses and paperwork.

Thank you, I will look into narrowing the width to about 2-3 ft

Please do share some more ideas. I am looking for something more classy/upscale than a table from a big box retailer.

I do not need a keyboard space or monitor space, I just need space for notepads and a laptop and just empty space on the desk to strew papers around on when I am working

But hey, what do we know. Maybe you have something like this in mind.

Just a though to consider an alternative to a desk.

I thought I wanted a desk for my PC workstation because the desk top is a good place just to set things that will be put away later … but rarely is and so the top becomes clutrered.

I modified an old armoire now when I close the doors anything accumulated in the armoire is out of sight and my wife is happy when the “stuff” is out of sight.
