Hi, being a novice woodworker I always value different opinions. I have a chance to buy either an Incra 1000se miter gauge or a Carter guide wheel upgrade for my band-saw for the same price. I would like to know which everyone else might lean towards if you had to chose just one. On my table saw I have a stock Delta miter gauge and on the band saw I just have the cool blocks. Thanks in advance to everyone for their help. Flyboy

You should be able to “tune” your bandsaw to make very accurate cuts with either a minimum of drift, or … at least … compensated FOR drift.

But … stock miter gauges … blecch ;-)

I have the 1000SE. It’s a fine, fine miter gauge. The Delta, from your TS, is likely okay, but … I don’t think there’s a stock miter gauge out there that can hold a candle to an Incra or an Osborne.

If you need another vote for the Incra, I am with Joe and Neil on this one.

Well you guys talked me in to it. I ordered it from Woodpeckers today since it was on sale for $105 which I didn’t think was to bad. I figure that I can put some new cool blocks on the band saw and live with that for awhile yet. Now the bad part which is the wait for it to arrive. I wanted to say thanks to all for the opinions and the final push that I needed. Flyboy

Oh, I wish that i had gotten to this post sooner….. I would have sold you my Incra 1000se for $75 and it is still in great shape. It would have been a good excuse to meet half way between us at Tony’s and get their 10 pounds of bacon for 50 cents, and then check out the Ridgid refurb store at the outlet mall. Sorry.

Hi Kristoffer, not only did I miss a good deal but now you have me thinking of Tony’s also. What mall has a Ridgid refurb store in it? I was going to try and call you this weekend if you are going to be around. Let me know.
