So 2 weeks ago I found a Rockwell 34-440 on CL for 100 bucks. The saw was in good shape. Top was flat and the blade ran true. I have been looking for a saw for a while so i bought it.

Well me being a tinkerer I can never leave well enough alone. I pulled it apart there was hardly a speck of rust on the inside of the machine. My wife and my body said to lube it up and leave it. My mind had other plans. So i completly took it apart changed out arbor bearings and motor bearings cleaned it up and repainted it. Here is the under side of the saw

Here is the outside of the cabinet. I like red. This is alot of red. Still wondering if I like it LOL. I used automative engine enamal and added 3 coats of engine enamel clearcoat to it. The stand will be tossed once I build my workbench so it will be muted a little. I left the motor and motor mount the original gray as a nod to the old color. I will part a totally finished picture in the next few days when it is complete

Very nice project! Great looking old saw.

That’s great! I bought a cheap unisaw off Craiglist and was planning to paint it orange, but I couldn’t take time away from using it in the shop for the paint to dry. Maybe next year.

Here she is completely finished. I just put her blanket on her and put her to bed.

I left the motor mount and motor the original collie for 2 reasons. One it will be hidden by my workbench when i build it and 2 i needed a little nod to the old color

Have your say...
