Can anyone help me figure out how to attached new sand paper to my Ryobi drum sander? Its very similar in design to Jet and Grizzly but the clip to attach the paper seems to be a little different. I purchased this at a sale and do not have an owners manual nor can I find one online.

thanks for the help.

Hi Eric, I’m not sure how similar your Ryobi DS is to my Supermax clone, but the way to instal the sandpaper on the drum should be basically the same.
1= remove the old roll from the drum and use it as a template , cut a new length..
2= start from the left, get the clip to attach itself firmly to the paper.
3=Roll the drum with your left hand(away from you) while holding the sandpaper with your right hand ,keep it tight till you reach the right side .(leave 1/32” gap between the edges) .
4=here’s the tricky part, you must have some patience to do this part at least a couple of times to get the hang of it.
while pulling at the end of the paper, bend the last 2” of it and guide it through the right side clip.
I made a tool for this part which is a 10” piece of flexible wire to help me fish the paper in the clip,if you can’t see the clip clearly, use a small mirror(lean it somewhere close so you can get a better view of the clip.
5=turn the drum sander on for a minute, stop. check if the sandpaper is overlapping on the edges,or if it loosened up or not, adjust accordingly.
let us know if you have any questions.
