All new here! After pricing hardwood for a bench top it seems that a good alternative would be the LL Johnson workbench tops. I need a bench quickly and they are cheaper than Grizzly. Has anyone used their bench tops? If so how was it? Thanks

I am not familiar with his products, but his red oak tops are $9/bd ft. I can get kiln dried red oak for $2.5/bdft.

You should look into buying a used workbench if anything at a auction or someplace cheaper if you need a quick one.

What do you need the bench for immediatly? Maybe you can find something cheap until you can get around to a better one. I have a old dresser that is fine for now. Came out of a hotel. Got it for free from my grandfather. When I have time or need for something bigger, I can make one.

Good luck and ask any other questions you can.
