Hey guys, hoping you can help me ID this chisel I picked up from CL. Label is worn/torn off. Back of the chisel engraved with a diamond and says “made in china”.
Any ideas?

Have had a set of those for over 30 years…..might have two left, now. Grind the edge back a bit, put a new bevel on it, hone it up, and put it to work. Once you get back into the “good” steel, they will do the job. Save it for your rougher work, and keep the high priced, delicate chisels for something less demanding…

I think the “brand name” was something like…Red Diamond.

Obviously it was made for export. Having a trade mark on it leads me to believe it is better than the usual run-of-the-mill Chinese made tools. China can and does make some good stuff; we only get to see the bad stuff.

Looks like the chisels sold by Aldis grocery stores. I’m pretty sure those are German-style chisels that are made in China. If that is what it is, Paul Sellers says they’re winners and has a few posts on tuning them up.

Edit: Nope, never mind it’s not one of those. They’re branded on the handles.
