Topic tags/keywords: 2008 winter contest rules question

I live in a semi-rural area, in the desert, and do not have access to a lumber yard, like I did in Denver. I will enter the 2×4 project contest, but what wood are we limited to? I believe we should be limited to any 2×4 offered by a Big Box store, not a 2×4 of exotic, or other species that cannot be found at a Big Box store.

Any comments?

Miss Debbie?

Thanks,
God Bless,
Hawg

I tend to agree with you but there is no official interpretation on that specific point (although it has been debated extensively). It seems that the consensus is that it is up to your interpretation and it is up to you to explain/defend your reasoning, especially since WE lumberjocks are the only judges (of each other).

So go with your instincts, whatever they are. If it is not obvious, you may want to explain your methodology when you post your results.

At least that’s how I see it.

2×4 … whatever you’d use for a 2×4…..

Ms Debbie,
I bet you are getting plumb tired of all this 2×4 commotion. I just wan to say you do a GREAT job and we all appreciate your efforts! Who woulda guessed we would have all this commotion over the lowly 2×4! LOL!

God Bless,
Hawg

haha I find it interesting, actually… trying to “think” like everyone, figuring out their perspective. I have it boiled down to “measure twice; cut once” ... wanting to get it right before starting the project.

My goal after the “no glue” event was to write the descriptions so that there was no confusion. I didn’t achieve it this time but I’m already motivated for the next challenge. Maybe then I’ll get it written correctly :)
