Thickness for a specific box?

Hey everyone, I’d like to make a box for a sword, so it will be about 5×8 inches by about 43” long. What i wonder is what a good thickness would be in 1/4 sawn white oak, half inch? Or 3/4? Thanks so much!

I’d go 3/4” if it’s to be carted around. 5/8” min.
