Topic tags/keywords: id wood branch

Anyone nice enough to ID this wood from a tree branch? Sorry there’s no leaves. It was growing here in northwest, New Jersey.

Thanks!

Just a wild guess: Striped Maple. How soft is the wood?

It looks a lot like Rhododendron where I live.

I guess it’s about as soft as maple. I had to cut it with a bow saw.

Hmm. Doubtful, knowing where it came from. Rhododendron 2-3 inches thick?

I think you want to know it is in northwest New Jersey, USA. More specifically it was on the property of my church, having grown there naturally, uphill of some cedars.
