I’m looking for a cradle design I built back in the mid ‘70’s. It was in a wood working magazine probably 1974 or 75. I would like to do another like it for my grandaughter. The original has long since been misplaced. Thank you. |

I have two thoughts on this. First, crib and cradle safety has changed a lot since the 70s, so i you find it, I would research current safety guidelines. Secondly, I would think about skipping the cradle and even skipping the crib, and getting started on her first “big girl bed”. They outgrow a cradle and crib before the finish dries, and then someone needs to store it for years and years because you built it. Yes, I realize this is a highly unromantic perspective, but I have a crib (that was used for about three months) and a changing table (that was used about 6 months) that will be sitting in my basement for about 20 more years, and I wish I would have built something else for my kids. Congrats on your granddaughter. It will be fun to build her whatever you are inspired to create… -- PaulMayer, http://www.vernswoodgoods.com |
