Just got back from HD and see that Rigid planers that were selling for $429 yesterday are now $299. I didn’t write down the model.

Darn Rigid BS1400 band saw is still $389 at my closest store while other stores less than 5 miles away had clearanced theirs for $186 last month. Missed those and bought Rikon clone.

Steve.

I have noticed my local Home Depots are reducing the amount of “speciality” tools as well. They were selling the Ridgid granite top table saw about 4 months ago, reduced it by $100, and now do not carry them any more. They do not have large tools like jointers, bandsaws or contractor tablesaws displayed anymore as well. They do have those items in stock, just not displayed. I have also noticed that they are reducing a lot of tool inventory that is not your standard “Home Owner” stuff. I am beginning to loose trust in Home Depot, I used to be able to count on them having tools I wanted, but now they are just becoming like WalMart in where they will dictate what we can buy.
One of my biggest gripes is that they are discounting things without any advertising to clear it out, and quite often after I have bought an item at retail price. Its just annoying to walk in and see a tool I just purchases discounted $100.
OK…. enough of that rant…... sorry, it just slipped out

My latest funny on HD is that they sell the Kreg pocket screw kits, but not the screws. Have to go over to Lowes or Menards to get the screws.

Rick,

Know how you feel, while the $299 was still more than I had a budget for, the space to put the beast made it a real easy pass by.

Steve.

Hi guy’s yeah they do have tendency to mark things down and not advertise them in there flyer. The Ridgid planner in our store is selling for $301.00 and normal price when we got it was $389. I checked with my manager and we can still get them there not going to stop selling them anyways at our location, Three Rivers, Mi. As for the granite top table saw from what I have heard that was a promo to see if they would sell good or not, we had 2 and both only lasted aday. We are trying to get couple more but there on back order right now. I been working in hardware off and on for over month to help cover for assoc on vacation and etc.

Steve,
After seeing your post, I went to HD this morning before work. I saw that the Jointer is on sale, not the planer. HD is having back friday sale today, which is why all the special buys….. I bought an 18V lithium ridgid drill with single battery for $90 and the 9 gallon wet/dry vac for $20. To me, it doesn’t seem like the price reduction for jointer is for close out, it’s just part of the sale, but I could be wrong.

Btw, I am in MI as well.

Have your say...
