So, I’m getting ready to pull the trigger on a quality fence for a restored Unisaw.
My original intention was to purchase the Biesemeyer BC30T2. But after reading any reviews around the web written in the past year or two, I’m reluctant to order it. From the sounds of it the quality has taken a severe dive.
My next choice was a Vega Pro 26, but it seems like I’m reading the same issues.
So I am in quite the conundrum, what should I get? I really don’t want to chance buying a low quality product, and I would prefer to keep the price around or under $400.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Best fence IMO out there.

I restored an old unisaw and looked around at all the different systems. After watching a few videos on the incra I decided on it. After putting it on, at first I thought I would hate it, after using it for a few days I fell in love with it. I think I paid around 450.00 for mine and would buy it again. There not for everyone but you might give it a look. One thing about it you’ll cut striaght wood with it.

I would not buy a new Biese at the prices they go for. HTC, Jet Xacta II, PM Accufence, Vega, Shop Fox Classic, Saw Stop T-Glide, Incra….

I have a Incra LS-III and get ok results. But if you read The Wood Whisper’s review of the fence and why he did not trust it you may change to another fence.

Used Unifence. Better than all of the above.

The new Biese isn’t as well made as the originals, or many of the better copies. It’s also no longer made in the USA….why pay the premium?

I’m not seeing much of a premium, as one can be had for under $200, and most of the others mentioned are around that price or more (w/the incra being twice the price!).

FWIW, I have a PM63 that Vega made the fence for. It’s the equivalent of the Pro26. You couldn’t wrestle that fence away from me. I love it. Vega is still a small company and it’s still US made. I understand their customer service is fantastic but have never had cause to use it personally. If zombies ever eat my fence, I won’t hesitate for a minute to go buy another Vega.

I have heavily used the Incra fence for about 9 years now and it is exceptionally great. I would buy it again in a heartbeat. I also have the Incra router fences and they are also the best i have owned.
When I first bought it I installed it on a Grizzly cabinet saw and when I upgraded to the SawStop I kept it and installed it on the new saw.
Also use the incra system on my router table

I wasn’t impressed with the vega 26 that I put on my craftsman contractor saw. It had a noticeable amount of deflection when it was locked down into place. It’s an ok fence for the cost, but if I was to do it again it’d be an Incra or Very Super Cool fence

I restored a 30+ year old Jet cabinet saw and the Biesemeyer fence on it is a tank…. very heavy gauge steel. Very solid construction, very little deflection. If you can find an old one, it might just be the trick.

We have a Unisaw set up at work with the Unifence, and it seems to be a quality built and well thought out system. I think you can still get these from Delta.

Alas, China has killed quality globally. Manufacturers have to cheapen up your products to compete with imports or go the way of the Do-Do bird.
