Topic tags/keywords: question cedar rustic

I build this post with red cedar and white cedar. i realize late in the game that the woods are very different in color. Will they grey the same? How long will it take?

As of now i plan on rebuilding. Thoughts?

That’s a good looking project. I really like that curve effect at the end of the chamfer. They call that a lamb’s tongue, don’t they? I’ve used cedar for fencing, and a gable treatment. We keep them stain with an oil deck stain. They haven’t started greying yet.

I would just tell everyone it was supposed to be contrasting woods if they don’t already assume that. I think the project looks nice as it is.

I’ve decide to rebuild the white part. I can’t risk it and dont want to explain to the client that it will match in a year.

@burlybob It is a lambs tongue, I first put one on my Moxon vise and now i do it whenever i get a chance. People seem to like it.
