Topic tags/keywords: plane router

I have been collecting Stanley planes for a while now at yard sales & estate sales in Florida. I was able to find 7 Stanley’s in good enough shape for me to restore and use mainly #5’s, #4’s and #220’s. Well yesterday I saw an add on Craigslist for 236 hand planes mainly Stanley,Sargent,Miller falls & DuPont and Varied other names. Also two # 71 routers and a #80 scraper. I paid $490 for the lot.

I’d say so long as at least the majority aren’t cracked or broken in some way and have all their pieces you did really really good considering it’s a touch over $2 a plane.

Yeah, I’m thinking you did okay. You might even earn a, “You Suck.” If you find a 5 1/4 in that bunch get back to me. Maybe we can haggle.

2+$ a plane for the lot is ridiculous. Nice score. I wish I could find something like that.

What are you going to do with them? That is a good price for the lot, but if 234 for of them go unused and unsold…that kind of skews the price a bit. That is a LOT of planes. Hopefully there are a few gems in there, that would really help out the score factor.

nice score, of course don’t know why anyone would need that many haha. I’ll do you a favor and quadruple your money on a few planes, $8 a piece, talk about making some money back haha

You could make a killing on ebay. Keep and restore the best, then use the others to fund more tools… that would be my plan.

Thanks for the comments guys! Not sure if I have any gems but I do have #8,7,6,5,4 1/2,4,3’s a good bit of each one. Sorry man no 5 1/2’s and I am thinking of selling some on eBay… I have tons of 9 1/2, 220,110 ect and most of these planes are in great shape. I’m still kind of overwhelmed at this point. It’s not as fun as buying one and bringing it home to get back in shape.

I’m interested in a 71 and a 60 1/2 block plane, if you’re looking to sell them.

You did good. After buying and using a Lie Nielson 60 1/2 rabbet plane I stopped buying old plans. My plan is to replace the old with Nielson planes. I may keep a few like my little #3

Wow…!! Yeah, you REALLY did okay! Took me many years of shopping to accumulate my herd, this has to be the epic purchase of the year!

I could be interested in a #3, #5, #6, or a shoulder plane, if you are interested in selling. Please PM me what you might have.
