hello -

i am trying to buy a 22124 from a sears store but the saw seems to be missing the fence. so far sears has been very unhelpful in this whole process and they have been unable to give me an accurate replacement cost for the fence. so, i was hoping a current 22124 owner out there could help me out…

if you have this saw, could you please go to www.searspartsdirect.com try to see what will be the cost to replace the fence? i would but i don’t have access to the actual ‘model #’ which should be on the saw. this is different than the Sears retail item #22124.

i have tried various times for someone at sears to do this for me but they keep quoting me a price of $125 for the fence… this is only the ‘auxiliary’ fence and not the actual fence itself.

thanks!!

It’s $370 shipped from Amazon for the Biesemeyer BC30, which is the stock fence on the 22124….it’s not unusual to see it for well over $400 at other stores.

thanks scott -

they knocked another $400 the price to account for the missing fence.

i know this has debated to thoroughly, but in the interest of saving a bit of money, is there any reason not to go with a Vega Pro fence with longer rails? i am planning to have a larger extension table to mount a router table and possibly a spindle sander. all will be on a shop fox mobile base with extension for the table.

if i do go with a Vega Pro fence, will it install easily on this saw without much (any?) modification necessary to mount the rails?

any Biese users out there think i should pay the premium?

I’ve owned a Biese Commercial, Vega U26, Shop Fox Classic, and a Jet Exacta II….all really nice fences. For even money I’d probably go with the Biese or the Exacta II, but I’d have no problem living with either of the others to channel some cash towards another item for the shop. The Biese will be a direct bolt on, which may have some appeal. Dunno how much work it’ll be to fit the Vega, but it’s generally considered a fairly simple installation compared to most.

Good luck.

I have the Shop Fox Classic with 7” rails mounted on an earlier Craftsman. Pretty straight forward install, works great.
