Topic tags/keywords: band saw tires crowning

I bought a used BS on CL with the original rubber tires. They are in decent shape. The bottom tire has a bit of a ridge but I think I can let it ride (pun intended). I’ve cleaned them and my question is should I crown them ? If so how much?

I would first put a blade on and see how it tracks on the wheels, if it cuts nice and straight ,then leave it alone for now but if the blade does not track properly or it’s not stable on the upper wheel/does not stay centered, then look at the possible causes.
I have owned a couple of bandsaws that their wheels were flat,(i.e.Rockwell model# 28115, Ryobi ), a picture of your saw would help a lot. it is not highly unusual for bandsaw wheels not to have a crown, or maybe the wheels are casted with a crown in them which means you don’t necessarily need to crown the tires.

It cuts very well. I will leave the tires alone. Thanks.
