Can anyone tell me what the equivalent sizes of 1X and 2X lumber are in Ireland and the UK?

Here in the US a 2X4 is 1.50×3.50 inches (38.1×63.5mm) commonly 96 inches long, 2413mm.

What are the common board sizes available across the Atlantic?

Also, what are the most common species of wood?

Thanks for the help.

Chris
