Hey guys
I just purchased and installed the Incra ts-ls saw fence and I have a small issue. After squaring it up to the miter slot I used my woodpecker set up dial and it seems like I’m off 5 thousandths in the center. I am getting the same reading on both ends but as I move along the face I get the 5 thousandths difference. It starts about a 1/4 of the way and on the other side it zeros out about the same distance from the end . I guess I have to get Incra to send me new fence but I am curious how much will this affect my finish. I have a big project to finish by June 1st. And I can’t wait until I get the new fence to start it. Is 5 thousandths enough to be noticeable.

I put a peice of 3/4” maple on the front of my fence. It’s easy to do and if it’s off a little you can shim it.

I agree, that a bowing in your fence of 5 thou will go completely unnoticed with almost any type of woodworking.

Another factor is that the primary value of the Incra accuracy is it’s repeatability. It sounds like what you have described would result in all of your pieces being “off” in the same way. Even if that 5 thou mattered, the fact that it is consistent would further lessen its impact.

I’m wondering if you have done anything to verify that the miter slot is not the source of (some or all) of your error in the measurement?

I think the odds of them being 1 and the same is high.

I don’t know the difference between the two but if you ever watch the Incra YouTube videos that’s who I spoke with. He way very helpful and honest to God knew his shet. I had my system running whisper quiet within a few min on the phone which is something I played with for an hour before I called.

Have your say...
