I am attempting to finish a dining table I recently finished building. I have been using a wipe on poly made from 50/50 polyurethane and mineral spirits. it has worked very well on furniture projects recently but when doing the table seems to it has worked very well on furniture projects recently but when doing the table seems to leave streaks in the finish. Any advice as to how to get a clean, smooth finish on a large surface like a table top using this wipe – on poly would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a video of Jeff Jewitt on wiping poly. The whole video is good, but the actual wipe-on portion starts at ~ 7:45.

The streaks are from over wiping or wiping with too much pressure on the brush. Don’t work it so much and they should not occur.
