Nice! Congratulations

Mine arrived yesterday. But when I opened it there is physical damage on the case :-(. The guy from where I bought came out to my place and has inspected it, took pics, etc – and said they will fix it or if I wanted a discount I could do that too. But I don’t know what to ask for. This is an expensive saw and I would prefer a non damaged one – but it is a tool and looks really don’t mean all that much.

Thoughts on what I should ask for?

a discount >= (greater than or equal) to 2X the cost of shipping since it will need to be shipped back and an undamaged unit will be need to be sent out.

JimKy, this is cosmetic and doesn’t look as if it will affect performance in any way, so you ought to ask for a discount. You could use the discount for a blade or two.

It was in the cardboard packaging that was on the bottom of the saw. The hard pack is on the bottom of that box and inside the box is the blade and manual. There was a piece of paper in there showing where everything is located in the box.

Congratulations on your new saw. Sorry to see that it’s damaged. I know you’ve been waiting patiently for it to arrive and now heart broke because it’s damaged. It would have to be a pretty good discount for me to take the saw. Every time you look at it your going to want it repaired. I’d get a price on repainting it and add my time for fooling with it. If the numbers came up right I might consider a discount. If not I’d tell them I wanted a new saw. You spent a lot of money to not be 100% satisfied. But that’s just me and my opinion.
Gerald.

Flipping Pictures on LumberJocks

If taken with an iPhone/iPad:
1. Take your photo.
2. Open the Photos App to view your photo.
3. Click “Edit” and crop it ever so slightly.
4. Save the photo.
5. Post the photo to LumberJocks.

If you have another mobile device, the same process may work, but I can’t confirm that. Otherwise, put them on a computer first, and that will solve your problem.

Congrats on the new saw! You will love it. I’ve had mine for almost 2 years and it’s been flawless. To your blade question, I use a Forrest Woodworker II for general purposes. In fact, I bought a second for when I send the first back to Forrest for sharpening.

I personally would get one that is not damaged. I have had my SawStop for 3 years and even the most tiny scuff really stands out to me since I am a nut for taking care of my tools

I’m with Southerner…when the blades are dead and gone, you will still have the dent! Congrats though to both of you. I have had mine a couple of years and never regretted it a minute!!!
