Topic tags/keywords: question veneering traditional

I am looking for a list of the tools neee to do stringor where I can buy them or how I can make them. i love the look of stringing and want to incorparate into a Table that i am makeing.

I’ve not done stringing, but I’ve got a friend who’s really into it. He has the Lie Nielsen tools. If I were looking for these tools and others, I’d go to some of the woodworking school sites where stringing is taught, look for classes that feature stringing, and download the tool lists. If that doesn’t work go to the CT Valley School of Woodworking site of the Furniture Institute of Massachusetts site or the Philadelphia Furniture Workshop sites and sent an e-mail to Bob Van Dyke, Phil Lowe or Mario Rodriguez and I think they would help you.

Fred, that link has a great list, though I did stringing on the legs of a federal style table, I didn’t need the circle cutter. Also, the tools that Jon made are great, but you can get by with much more basic tools – In Latta’s original article in FWW he described them and I made them all in a few hours.
