My last turning got me to looking a how to waste odd shaped hard to turn wood without all the vibration. Toying with the idea of using a Arbortech TURBOPlane.
I thought I can lock the index at the high spots and take off some high spots using the Turboplane before rough turning.

No reason it wouldn’t work.

It would sure beat trying to hand plane the piece to fit. On my 12” swing, when I was really lucky and got some wood that was too large for the swing, If I could get it between centers, I would use my door planer to remove the high spots until I could get a full rotation…...

I know several people who use what you’re asking about for the same reason you’re asking….......... Jerry (in Tucson)
